about

New London-based label Sans Absence launches with the debut EP from rising North London DJ and producer Luke West. The five-track ‘OOOOO’ EP, which has picked up early support from Sound Pellegrino label boss Teki Latex and Trax Couture’s Rushmore
amongst others, is set for digital release on 22nd January.

Across three original tracks, West blends stripped-back, propulsive UK Funky rhythms with minimal melodies and a dark sound palette to deliver a rugged EP that is built to test the biggest of systems and light up the airwaves. The EP is completed by a pair of remixes
from label owners Akito and D Warrior.

The EP opens with the booming sub-bass, rattling percussion and ominous vocal chops of the titular track, kicking in to gear with swaggering Soca snares and rebounding melodies laid over a deep bassline. Up next, ‘Litework’ builds on this framework with its strippedback drums, hypnotic synth riff and low-slung bassline sculpted for maximum impact. ‘Worl’ completes the trio of original tracks with its stuttering rhythms set against echoing synth stabs and expansive pads. Label heads D Warrior and Akito round off the EP with their takes on ‘OOOOO’ and ‘Litework’ respectively; up first D Warrior reworks ‘OOOOO’ with new synth arrangements and a barrage of sharp snares, while Akito injects ‘Litework’ with his signature rhythmic energy to powerful effect.

Sans Absence is a platform for uncompromising percussive, bass heavy and dancefloorready
club music, made available to everyone digitally.
